01 / The beginning

We have the keys.

An illustrated first look at the Le Yard storefront

The lease is signed. On September 3, we took possession of 858 Ninth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen. This is where we’re building Le Yard.

I’ve spent the last few years working in restaurants. Now I’m opening one with my partner, and I want to share the decisions that go into it as we make them.

Some will be big. Others will be a glass, a plate, the shape of a table, or what we call a dish. Those smaller choices are part of what you’ll experience when you sit down here.

Walnut is part of the direction we’ve chosen for the tables. We’re working through how the rest of the setting comes together around it. I’ll share the samples, the alternatives, and what we decide to keep.

I want this journal to follow the actual work. When we choose something, you’ll see it. When we’re still deciding, I’ll say so. There will be photos from the space, details from the build, and notes from me along the way.

We’re aiming for December 1, 2026. That is our target, and the opening date will depend on the work being ready. The full menu, hours, and final details will come as we confirm them.

For now, we have the keys. Next, we start making the room our own.
